Gallery: ECE 5/330 (May 2013)

In late May 2013 I got the opportunity to visit Mont de Marsan Air Base in the south of France to prepare reports on Escadron de Chasse d'Expérimentation 5/330 'Côte d’Argent', and Escadron de Chasse 2/33 'Savoie. ECE 5/330 is the operational test and evaluation squadron of the French Air Force equipped with the Mirage 2000-5F, 2000D, 2000C, Rafale A/B, Alpha Jet and TBM700. ER 2/33 is the last dedicated reconnaissance fighter unit and the last French operator of the Mirage F1. Report on this special unit will be published in Combat Aircraft Monthly later in 2013. The visit was special to me because I was offered a flight in a Alpha Jet for inflight photography purposes. On my request the flight took of one hour before sunset to take advantage of the changing light conditions in the golden hour. Take-off was at 20.30.
